Bryan Coker

Since 2020, Dr. Bryan F. Coker has served as the twelfth President of Maryville College, a 207-year-old liberal arts institution of 1,200 undergraduate students, located in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. During Coker’s tenure, Maryville has seen the addition of numerous programs and facilities, including the opening of the Maryville College Downtown Center and soon, the Alexander Institute for Conservation Leadership and the Sciences. He was Founding Chair of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS), a member of the NCAA Division III Presidents Council, and is Chair-Elect of the Southern Athletic Association (SAA). He serves as an Affiliated Faculty Member at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) and previously taught at Morgan State University. Coker formerly served in administrative roles at Goucher College, Jacksonville University, and UTK. He received his B.A. from Rhodes College, is a member of the Rhodes Hall of Fame, and was previously recognized as the inaugural Young Alumnus of the Year. He holds an M.Ed. from the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. from UTK, which recognized him for Outstanding Professional Achievement in 2024. He is a graduate of both Leadership Knoxville and Leadership Tennessee.
