This is a Presidential Center, not a typical museum, and security is heightened: everyone goes through a metal detector at the Forum, the museum and Home Court. Laptops and tablets set it off, so take yours out of your bag before you reach the line. A group our size takes time to clear, so arrive early, carry only what you need, and leave the rest at coat check.
Yes. Coat and bag check is at both the Forum and Home Court. Check yours where you start your day (Lunch & Learn guests: Home Court) and pick everything up there at the end of the night. Bags go through security at every building.
We recommend Uber or Lyft, and our team will be at the drop-off to point you to the Forum. If you drive, enter Obama Presidential Center Parking in your GPS. Parking is paid through the Metropolis app; cash isn't accepted. For hotels and travel, see Stay & Travel.
It'll be around 57°F and we walk outdoors between buildings, so bring a layer and comfortable shoes.
We have what you told us at registration, and special meals are marked at your seat at dinner, so there's nothing to resend.
Not into the auditorium or the museum, including water. Box lunches are downstairs from 1:45 PM, and you can bring them into Rooms A-B, F and G. If your room is in the auditorium, eat downstairs first. The Center's café is open during the day; purchases are on your own.
Two conversations at Home Court, 11:00 to 11:40 AM, at the same time, with boxed lunches. Seats are limited and reserved seats are let in first. Your badge is waiting at Home Court; check your coat and bags there too. We stop right at 11:40 and walk to the Forum together for the 12:00 PM program.
Two 55-minute working rooms, one per half: 1st Half 2:05 to 3:00 PM, 2nd Half 3:10 to 4:05 PM. Rooms are in the Elie Wiesel Auditorium and in breakout rooms downstairs in the Forum (Rooms A-B, F and G). People with a reservation are let in first, then walk-ins as space allows.
Rooms fill by reservation first. On the day you can walk into any room with open seats.
The day runs under the Chatham House Rule. There's no press, and we record for internal use only. Share what you learn, not who said it.
