Bubba Cunningham

Bubba Cunningham, who served as North Carolina’s Director of Athletics for more than 14 years, transitioned to his current role as UNC’s Senior Advisor to the Chancellor and Director of Athletics in July 2026. During his tenure as AD, the Tar Heels won 24 national championships and finished in the top 10 of the NACDA Learfield Directors’ Cup 11 times. Under his leadership, more than 6,000 student-athletes earned recognition on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
