Mike Harrity

Mike Harrity began his tenure as Dartmouth's inaugural Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation in July 2022, leading the 35-team Division I varsity program along with club sports, recreation, fitness, and physical education programming.

Harrity and his team have achieved historic success in both fundraising and competitive performance, while leading a department whose reach extends to every undergraduate through recreation and physical education. Harrity also helped establish and co-leads the Kirsten and Eugene F. "Buddy" Teevens '79 Center for Peak Performance, a cross-disciplinary hub that extends mental performance, nutrition, and leadership support from varsity scholar-athletes to the entire undergraduate population while advancing research and innovation in performance science.

Prior to Dartmouth, Harrity spent two years as Deputy Athletics Director and Chief Operating Officer at the United States Military Academy at West Point, and more than eight years as a member of the athletics executive team at the University of Notre Dame.

A first-generation college graduate, Harrity is the author of Coaching Wisdom: Champion Coaches and Their Players Share Successful Leadership Principles, based on interviews with 13 coaches who won 103 championships. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's in education, both from the University of Kansas.
